Acne Treatment | Tracy Evans, MD | San Francisco, CAIf you are planning on hitting some Halloween parties this year and want to really go all out then one of the best things you can do is invest in some serious face paint. And although face paint may make or break your costume, it can also break you out if you get the wrong kind or don’t use it right. Let’s take a closer look at some ways you can ensure that your Halloween makeup doesn’t break you out this year.

Don’t Use Costume Makeup

Costume makeup has a lot of oil in it that can clog your pores and lead to a lot of breakouts. Rather than investing in costume paint or makeup, try going to your local beauty store and getting some makeup instead. Regular makeup is less likely to break you out and you can usually get similar effects.

Wash Your Brushes

This tip doesn’t just apply to your Halloween makeup but to your everyday makeup as well. Make sure that you wash your brushes after a few uses so that dirt and oil don’t build upon them. The dirtier your makeup brushes are, the more likely they are to break you out so make sure that after a few Halloween parties that you wash them with soap and warm water.

Don’t Share Makeup or Brushes

You may want to save a little bit of money over Halloween and share your makeup and brushes with all of your friends, but this could just break you out. The more dirt and oil that’s spread from person to person, the more likely you are to get some pimples.

Wash Your Face Afterward

You should never ever go to bed with makeup still on your face. Make sure that no matter how tired you are after your Halloween parties that you wash all of the makeup off of your face.
